A Hundred Pages of Solitude

A solid hundred left to be cut...then actually I'll add a few more awesome sources I've collected in the past month or so, then I'll declare Draft 2 ready.

Draft 2

Draft 2 is on schedule for completion on May 14; circa 400 pages. Then quick additions, perhaps one more interview, some study of the sources accuracy, and then the future is unwritten!

Let the Mincing Begin

The cutting of the first draft is on schedule. Below 800 pages now. With finer tuning like this, it's easier to be accurate about timing.

40th Anniversary of "The Walk"

The Gainesville Sun recognizes the lessons the Walk has for today's politics. Will Twitter replace the handshake? Nope.

Like the telephone and e-mail, internetworking represents another low-grade communication tool. The door knock, the grip and grin, they're power.

It's far too long...now begins the editing!!

Okay, so the chapters, all 20, are now in one Word document. Now time for more polishing and cutting until Monday. The overall document is far longer than I anticipated. I was actually concerned it was too short.

The first draft is done! I have a good bloc of time between now and Monday to go back to the beginning and clean things up chapter by chapter. I'm not gonna clean everything--that defeats the point of a first draft.
